Things to know about a Mallard nest: Once the nest is built, egg laying usually begins in 1-3 days. The hen can lay an average of 9 eggs which will hatch within 28 days once incubation begins. Remember to leave the nest undisturbed and avoid walking anywhere near it AND never feed bread to wild birds, it’s bad for them!
