Option 1: Rice and Hamburger
What you’ll need:
- White rice
- Lean Hamburger meat
Boil 1-4 cups (depending on your pets size) of white rice in a pot or rice cooker, make sure the finished product is cooked and soft.
***It is important to cook the rice separately from the hamburger***
In the meantime, boil 1-2 packages of lean hamburger meat (use water not oil) in a frying pan.
Mix the cooked rice and cooked hamburger together when ready; the mixture should be about 3:1 (75% rice and 25% hamburger). This is ~350 kcal/ cup. Please don’t hesitate to ask us at your pets annual or semi annual exam what their target daily Calorie intake should be!
Start by feeding your dog small frequent portions of this mixture only. You can feed this alone for 2-3 days, once their poops are back to normal, slowly start mixing in their regular food into the rice and hamburger mixture until they’re completely back onto their normal diet. If the diarrhea is not resolving quickly, seek medical attention asap!
